  • To become a psychologist, Dr. Badiee had to earn a doctorate degree. Her PhD in Counseling Psychology took 5 years, including a one-year, full-time internship. After she graduated, Dr. Badiee completed 1,500 hours of clinical counseling experience under the guidance of a supervisor. She also completed 57 hours of additional coursework, passed the national psychology exam, and passed the California law and ethics exam.

  • Dr. Badiee is a psychologist with over a decade of experience with polyamorous clients, scholar who publishes academic papers on polyamory, professor who has educated a multitude of audiences on polyamory, and practitioner who has been officially polyamorous since 2011.   • Dr. Badiee has over 13 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults, couples, and groups. She has worked in a variety of settings like community agencies, substance abuse treatment centers, prisons, and college counseling centers.

  • Dr Badiee answers client calls and emails on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 am-5 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 am to 6 pm, and Fridays at 9 am-2 pm. She sees clients on Tuesdays 10 am-6 pm.

  • Polyamory, non-monogamy, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), queer & trans folk, people with ADHD

  • Dr. Badiee view clients from a relational-cultural lens. This means she views relationships as the process and goal of human development and centers relationships in her therapeutic work. She also integrates cultural aspects that are relevant for clients. She applies evidence-based approaches and adapts them to her clients in culturally informed ways.

  • Dr Badiee’s fee is $275 per session. Clients frequently use their out of network insurance benefits to offset the cost of sessions after meeting their deductible. Many PPO insurances with out-of-network benefits will reimburse a percentage of the fee to you. Depending on the insurance carrier and plan, insurance may cover anywhere from 50-80% of session costs. For information on your out of network benefits, call the number on the back of your insurance card or review your plan online.

    2. Do I have a deductible I need to meet before I can use Out of Network benefits?
    3. Does my plan cover telehealth appointments for out-of-network providers?
    4. What is the best way to be reimbursed for therapy if I used out-of-network benefits?

    • 90791 Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation (Intake- First appt)
    • 90837 Psychotherapy (Individual appts after intake)
    • 90847 Psychotherapy (Couples/family sessions after intake)

  • No, Dr. Badiee only provides telehealth sessions through Zoom video teleconferencing.

  • Not necessarily! Poly Therapist is focused on liberation through relationships, which can apply to anyone! Relationships are part of our health and well-being.

  • Dr. Badiee has experienced a variety of different relationship styles. In young adulthood, she attempted to conform to monogamy but it never quite fit. She had accepted that she would likely not have a serious romantic relationship until she learned about polyamory, or the capacity for multiple love relationships. Dr. Badiee has officially identified as polyamorous since 2011. As you may imagine, witnessing your romantic partner interested and even love someone else can bring up all kinds of wounds! Her polyamory journey has given her superpowers, like learning to reckon with her childhood demons, communicating more directly than she ever has, and asking for what she needed. What she has learned from her personal polyamorous journey, therapy with polyamorous clients, and research can benefit all!
